Learning From The Leaders
-
Large districts have complex IT environments and the most diverse users. At the same time, they often have relatively large staffs and budgets. The
combination means that they are often among the first in the education community to face and begin dealing with difficult issues – such as security.
Large districts are the pioneers, having to operate in the uncertain area before best practices are fully identified and incorporated into standard
operating procedures. Often, the best help they can get is from each other. And the rest of the Education Technology community can learn from listening
to their conversation. In that spirit, the CoSN conference includes two sessions focusing on the experiences of large districts that are getting real
about network security. These sessions are T204: Security of Urban/Large Education Networks (Part I): “Dealing with Users and Usage” and T304: Security
of Urban/Large Education Networks (Part II): “Tools, Methods and Management.”
