Transportation

Thanks to a quick and efficient Metrorail subway system and broad, welcoming streets, it's also easy to get around the nation's capital once you're here. Visitors can fly into one of Washington, DC's three airports, ride a train into magnificent Union Station or navigate the region's network of major highways for a speedy arrival and easy conveyance downtown.

Airports

The Renaissance Hotel is seven miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). Depending on traffic this could take approximately 10-30 minutes. In addition, the hotel is 20 miles from Baltimore/Washington Airport (BWI) and 35 miles from Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Baltimore/Washington International Airport
Located 30 miles east of Washington, DC and offering a full range of domestic and international flights. More than 50 Amtrak and commuter trains travel between Washington, DC's Union Station and the BWI rail station Monday-Friday. SuperShuttle (800/258-3826) offers door-to-door service between BWI and your Washington, DC or suburban hotel. Taxi fare to downtown Washington, DC is approximately $45.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Located south of the city along the Potomac River and offering a full range of domestic flights on major, regional and commuter carriers. Shuttle bus service to downtown (1517 K St. NW) available. Also accessible on Metrorail's Yellow and Blue lines. Taxi fare to downtown is approximately $12-$15, and both Washington Flyer and SuperShuttle now offer service from the airport to downtown hotels. Super Shuttle from Reagan National Airport is $8.00 one way and Airport Express is $12.00 one way.

Washington Dulles International Airport
Located 26 miles west of Washington, DC and offering a full range of domestic and international flights. Taxi fare to downtown is approximately $40. Washington Flyer provides bus service to downtown hotels, with departures every 45 minutes, and SuperShuttle offers door to door service.

Train

Union Station

For over 90 years, Union Station has welcomed people to the most important city in the world. The Station is easily accessible on Metro's Red Line. The Renaissance Hotel is only 3 miles from Union Station.

Local Transit

Metrorail and Metrobus provide the safest, cleanest and most efficient way of getting around Washington, DC and the metropolitan suburbs. Five rail lines and an extensive bus system connect the District with the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. Train lines are named for colors: Red, yellow, blue, green, and orange. Station entrances are marked by brown pylons, capped with the letter “M” and colored stripes indicate which lines are available.

The hotel is also two blocks from the Washington, DC Metrorail, Gallery Place/Chinatown station which serves the Red, Yellow and Green lines and three miles from Union Station for those taking a train into the city.

Route maps are posted at each station and inside each subway car. Metrorail opens 5:30 AM. weekdays and 7:00 AM. on weekends. It closes at midnight Sunday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday nights, it stays open until 3:00 AM. Each train displays the name of its farthest destination. Base subway fare is $1.35 and increases during rush hour and for longer trips. Rail farecards can be purchased at vending machines located inside the stations. Farecards are inserted into the turnstile gates to enter and exit subway platforms. The fare is automatically deducted each time you exit a station. To continue your trip by Metrobus, obtain a transfer at your originating station before boarding the train.

Taxi

Taxi service is plentiful and economical in Washington, DC. Taxis operate on a zone, rather than meter, system, and by law all rates must be posted in each cab. Rates are usually $1.50 for each additional passenger. Cabs for Maryland and Virginia can take passengers from DC to locations in their respective states but not to different locations within the city. Hotel Parking

Parking is available at the hotel for $20.00 per day for self-parking or $25.00 for valet parking.
