Is your school or district facing corrective action under AYP or concerned about what measures need to be in place? The education industry has brought together the highest level of expertise in the areas of teaching, administration and curriculum. The result - an instructional, integrated approach to AYP. This workshop will provide solutions that can be implemented and help to provide your school or district to be compliant to the standards of No Child Left Behind. Participants will learn how a seamless and blended solution can achieve performance excellence in your school or district.

The first 100 educators who pre-register for this event and have reserved a room at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel will be eligible for complementary accommodations on Sunday, March 5, 2006.

Note: Participants must make their own hotel reservations at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel for March 5th.

2:00-5:00 PM Pre-Conference Workshop: Planning for Improved Cyber Security
(Advance registration and additional fees required)

Headlines are engaging; they are meant to be. But always reacting (rather than being proactive) is not the best way to protect your district's IT system. This workshop will introduce a set of tools that will allow you to determine your district's security status, create a cost-efficient and incremental improvement plan, evaluate your progress, and - most importantly - gain solid administrative and community support for the effort. The workshop information can be implemented through use of the tools available at no charge on the CoSN Cyber Security website. Experience teaches us that no IT leader can ever assume that they have every security problem covered. This workshop shows how to create a strong foundation and build upwards - while improving your system's overall performance and usefulness at the same time.

Steven Miller and Chris Seiberling, Founding Co-Directors, Cyber Security for the Digital District Project, Consortium for School Networking

2:00-5:00 PM Pre-Conference Workshop: The Ed-Tech Story: Making the Case for Education Technology
(Advance registration and additional fees required)

Effective advocacy starts with effective stories. Learn how narratives can boost your ability to persuade and influence the advocacy agenda. In this interactive workshop session, participants will learn a variety of story frameworks that can be used to frame their message for ed-tech advocacy, fundraising and communication purposes. Discover simple and powerful techniques for crafting memorable messages that make a lasting impression. Learn what makes a great ed-tech story and how to balance (1) real-world anecdotes with (2) credibility enhancing statistics and (3) the big-picture rationale for continued investments.
