The International Symposium brings together key education and policy leaders from the United States and other nations to examine global responses to effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education.

The open technologies approach has become a highly significant dimension of the primary and secondary ICT environment worldwide. Perhaps the most visible form of open technologies is open source operating system design, but open technologies also includes a range of applications software, courseware and even hardware design. The Symposium will focus on current real-world applications of open technologies, featuring experts sharing their knowledge and experience on the policy, legal and application aspects of open technologies from around the world.
